This week’s Take It to Class builds on last week’s Play & Reflect by bringing Number Portraits into your classroom.
Number Portraits invite students to represent a number visually using Tile Farm Studio. The activity encourages students to explore different ways numbers can be structured, developing both number sense and creative problem solving.
Because students have creative freedom, the activity also naturally invites discussion.
Take It to Class
Try this activity with your students:
- First ask students to create a Number Portrait in Tile Farm Studio using the following prompts for different grade bands (or one of your choosing):
- Grades K-2: Make a representation of 10
- Grades 3-5: Make a representation of 67
- Grades 6-12: Make a representation of 6 x (7 + 8)
- Invite students to share and explain their representations.
- What do you notice or wonder about each other’s designs?
- What similarities and differences do you see across designs?
How Share Codes Work
If you have student work you are excited about, feel free to share your canvas using a share code and submit it through the form using the steps outlined in this GIF.

Reflect on the Experience
Optionally, submit a Share Code from one student example along with your reflection.
Submit your reflection by 3/18/2026 for a chance to win a Tile Farm Marketplace gift card.
