On Friday, March 6, team members from Tile Farm participated in an event at the New Mexico State Capitol hosted by the New Mexico Universal Design for Learning (NMUDL) initiative.
NMUDL works to build educator capacity across the state by supporting teachers, coaches, and school leaders in implementing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework. UDL is a research-based approach grounded in neuroscience that helps educators design learning experiences that account for student variability, barriers to learning, and each learner’s unique “jagged” learning profile. By planning for multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression, educators can better align learning goals while ensuring all students have meaningful access to the curriculum.
Tile Farm is a natural fit within this framework. Our approach emphasizes research-based teaching practices and a neuroscience-informed mindset that aligns closely with the core principles of UDL.
We were honored to present to a group of NMUDL coaches and participating teachers from across New Mexico. What stood out most was the level of engagement and passion each educator brought to the conversation. It was an inspiring event and a powerful reminder of the commitment educators across the state share in creating more inclusive learning environments.
We are currently working with the NMUDL team to explore ways to make Tile Farm available across their statewide network. Stay tuned for more updates.
