The Math Routine That Saves You Time

Does it ever feel like there’s never enough time in the school day?

Adding something new might seem like the last thing you need. But a good math routine could actually save you time.

Tile Farm Academy is designed to take just 5–10 minutes a day, and believe it or not, those few minutes could actually save you time in the long run. Here are six ways:

1. Stronger number sense makes new math easier to learn.
When students understand numbers and relationships more deeply, they have more to build on. All new math learning becomes easier when students have strong number sense.

2. It makes the transition into math easy.
Daily Digits works well as a predictable math warm-up. Students know what to do, get started quickly, and are often genuinely excited to begin.

3. Students learn to think, “I can figure this out.”
A major goal of Tile Farm Academy is helping students develop confidence and persistence in problem solving. When students approach unfamiliar problems expecting that they can make sense of them, teachers spend less time coaching students through the “I don’t knows.”

4. You spend less time reteaching the basics.
Short, consistent practice with number relationships strengthens ideas students use again and again throughout their math learning journey, reducing the need to stop and rebuild those foundations later.

5. It is easy for teachers to use.
Tile Farm Academy was designed to be easy for teachers to use, with little to no prep time. As former teachers ourselves, we know how quickly the school day fills up, so we’ve designed an experience that can fit naturally into almost any classroom routine.

6. When students enjoy math, everything gets easier.
Students who look forward to math are more willing to participate, take risks, stick with challenging problems, and share their thinking. Less time convincing students to engage means more time actually doing mathematics.

Ten minutes spent building number sense, confidence, and joy today can save much more than ten minutes later.

The goal of Tile Farm Academy isn’t to add one more thing to math time. It’s to make the rest of math time work better.
