In the year since its launch, Tile Farm Academy helped thousands of students strengthen their number sense, build confidence, and develop a more positive relationship with mathematics. Along the way, we listened closely to teachers, learned from students, and discovered how to make the experience even more engaging, intuitive, and useful in the classroom.
Everything we learned shaped the new Tile Farm Academy for the 2026–27 school year, a more powerful, more curriculum-aligned, and easier-to-use experience launching August 3, 2026. Here are some of the biggest changes:
More Curriculum-Aligned Daily Math
Daily Digits became a regular math warm-up for thousands of students last year. Its short, visual activities give students meaningful number-sense practice while helping them build confidence, flexibility, and curiosity.
This year, we are expanding Tile Farm Academy with two additional number sense activities that complement Daily Digits and help teachers create a richer daily math routine:
Number Portraits
Number Portraits is a creative mathematics activity that invites students to build their own representations of numbers and mathematical expressions. In the process, students plan, calculate, apply their mathematical knowledge creatively, develop number sense, and experience productive struggle as they make mathematical creations they are proud of and excited to share with their peers.

Tile Talk
Tile Talk takes the visual and problem-solving content from Daily Digits and Number Portraits and adds a social and conversational element to the Tile Farm routine. These teacher-facilitated math talks help students explain what they notice, compare strategies, ask questions, and learn from one another.
A Simpler User Experience
Ease of use was one of our top priorities for 2026–27. We thoughtfully redesigned the student and teacher interfaces to feel intuitive and minimal while preserving the powerful features students and teachers love. Classes can get started quickly, students can easily find what they need, and teachers can focus their attention on the mathematics.
The result is less time navigating and more time creating, discussing, thinking deeply, and experiencing the joy of mathematics.
Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, and Ratios
One of the most common requests we received from elementary teachers was for additional content involving fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios.
Teachers asked, and we responded.
The expanded Daily Digits curriculum now includes more opportunities for students to develop conceptual understanding and intuition in these important areas. As always, the emphasis is not simply on memorizing procedures. Students are encouraged to visualize quantities, recognize relationships, and make sense of how numbers work.
Expanded Middle School Content
We have also significantly expanded Tile Farm Academy’s middle school curriculum.
New and expanded topics include:
- Positive and negative numbers
- Order of operations
- Algebraic thinking
- Fractions and decimals
- Percentages and ratios
This new content complements the foundational number sense Tile Farm already develops around addition, multiplication, and place value. These skills remain essential for success in middle school mathematics, algebra, and beyond.
What Hasn’t Changed
Tile Farm Academy may look simpler and include more curriculum-aligned content, but the heart of the program has not changed.
We still believe that mathematics should be joyful, beautiful, visual, social, and creative.
We still believe students learn more when they are curious, confident, and excited to participate.
And we still believe that a few meaningful minutes of mathematics each day can transform how students see themselves as mathematicians.
The new Tile Farm Academy launches next week, and we cannot wait for students and teachers to experience it.
