Tile Farm is proud to partner with Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) on a district-wide adoption of Tile Farm Academy for STEAM and make labs, supporting creative, visual, and student-centered mathematics learning across the district.
This partnership builds on a successful pilot in APS STEAM labs and reflects the district’s commitment to learning environments that emphasize problem solving, creativity, and conceptual understanding of math. Tile Farm Academy is now being used across APS STEAM spaces in 88 elementary schools to help students explore mathematics through design, collaboration, and open-ended inquiry.
Christie Snell, Head of Educational Technology Labs and Spaces at APS, shared:
”We are excited for the opportunity to integrate Tile Farm into our elementary schools. It not only supports our mission to enhance math education but also aligns with our commitment to fostering creativity and problem-solving skills among our students. It’s a step forward in transforming how we teach math.”
Across APS, Tile Farm Academy supports a wide range of learners by offering low-floor, high-ceiling activities that adapt naturally to different ages, abilities, and learning styles. Teachers report strong student engagement, meaningful mathematical discourse, and increased confidence among students who may not traditionally thrive in math settings.
Amy Bell, a STEAM lab teacher who has used Tile Farm for over a year, shared:
“My students have been using Tile Farm for over a year now, and they love it! It’s a great way to integrate math, technology, and art. It’s highly engaging and a game my students actually ask for! The new Academy platform allows me to track their progress and see their growth as they improve their number sense and math knowledge while being creative and having fun. That’s a win-win.”
For Tile Farm, the partnership with APS is deeply personal.
“I’ve worked with Albuquerque Public Schools in various capacities for decades. My wife was a teacher at APS, all of my children attended APS schools, and education in New Mexico has always been a top priority for our company,” said Louis Romero, Founder and CEO of Tile Farm. “To now collaborate with APS at a district-wide level is incredibly meaningful. This partnership represents a major step forward in expanding joyful, high-quality math learning across the state.
The APS partnership demonstrates how creative, research-aligned math tools can scale effectively at the district level while supporting both instructional goals and student engagement. Tile Farm is honored to work alongside APS as they continue to invest in innovative math learning experiences for students across the district.
